Since its establishment the Commission has demonstrated an expansive capacity to tackle issues of human rights through various activities, ranging from public enlightenment and education, investigation of complaints, mediation and conciliation, conflict resolution, peace building, research advocacy and training programmes on contemporary issues in the field of human rights. These were given effect through an effective complaint treatment mechanism, regular hosting of lightenment seminars, workshops, rallies and continuous reengineering of our strategies which culminated in the National Action Plan (NAP) on Human Rights as a mark of government's commitment towards the promotion and protection of human rights. The NAP is expected to be a benchmark on which Nigeria's Human Rights records can be judged. Relationship with Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs)/Civil Society Organizations (CSOs).
In order to achieve effectiveness in the discharge of its mandate, the Commission established quite early a working relationship with other relevant bodies, both in the governmental and non -governmental sectors in the field of human rights. Such mutual relationship has continued to be beneficial to both sides as a better atmosphere of understanding and cooperation has been forged through interactive sessions.
Relationship with International Donor Agencies .
In line with the mandate, the Commission has sustained a healthy and vibrant relationship with a number of International Donor Agencies and Embassies to enable her actualize her responsibilities to the Nigerian People.
