NHRC Flags-off Prison Audit

The 2009 National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) Prisons Audit was flagged off at the Kuje Prison, FCT, Abuja on the 20th November, 2009.
The Executive Secretary of the NHRC in his opening remarks stated that the prisons audit exercise is aimed at ensuring that prison institutions are designed and managed in a manner that guarantees that the conditions of life within the prisons are compatible with human dignity and acceptable standards.
The Comptroller General of the Nigeria Prisons Service, Mr. Olusola Ogundipe commended the NHRC under the leadership of Mr. Roland Ewubare for sustaining the legacy of ensuring that all Nigerians irrespective of their status are accorded respect for their fundamental rights.
