STOP THESE KILLINGS NOW - NHRC URGED GOVERNMENT

The National Human Rights Commission has condemned in strong term the recent killings and destruction of properties in Demsa, Numan and Girei local government areas of Adamawa State.

The Ag. Executive Secretary, Mrs. Oti Ovrawah said the statement became imperative following the killings and reprisals which constitute the greatest violation of human rights among other rights violations.

She therefore called on the President Mohammadu Buhari- led federal government and the Adamawa State government to act fast and rise up to the challenges of these ceaseless killings to forestall future occurrences and ensure that peace and normalcy returns to the affected areas.

She further called on the security agencies to be more proactive and committed in the discharge of their duties to also ensure effective protection of lives and properties of defenseless Nigerians who are usually the victims of such incessant attacks.
