DRAFT NATIONAL ACTION PLAN FOR THE PROMOTION AND PROTECTION OF HUMAN RIGHTS 2021 – 2025

The National Action Plan for the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights (NAP) is the response of the Government of Nigeria to the recommendations of the Vienna Declaration and Programme of Action, adopted at the World Conference on Human Rights in Vienna, Austria in 1993. This requires that, “Each state considers the desirability of drawing up a national action plan identifying steps whereby the state would improve the protection and promotion of human rights” The Commission, in collaboration with the Ministry of Justice and other governmental and non-governmental stakeholders have worked, over the years, to develop a successor NAP to replace the initial NAP which expired in 2013. The draft NAP will soon be finalised after inputs from stakeholders.
