DECEMBER 2025 HUMAN RIGHTS DASHBOARD

The National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) presents the December 2025 Human Rights Situation Dashboard together with 2026 Human Rights Outlook, providing a comprehensive review of last year’s human rights situation and setting priorities for the year ahead.

In 2025, the Commission received a total of 3,724,822 complaints across its 38 offices nationwide. These covered insecurity, gender-based violence, child rights abuses, discrimination, and infringements on civil and political liberties. Killings, kidnappings, communal conflicts, and governance deficits were identified as major drivers of violations, with women, children, and marginalized groups most affected. The impacts included displacement, loss of livelihoods, psychological trauma, and declining public trust in institutions.

Looking forward, the 2026 Outlook highlights risks such as continued insecurity, gender-based violence, restrictions on civic freedoms, and socio-economic pressures. To address these, the NHRC has outlined strategic actions including strengthening community policing and early warning systems, expanding support for survivors of gender-based violence and child protection, advocating for civic and electoral reforms, monitoring the human rights impact of economic policies, and enhancing accountability through judicial and oversight reforms.
